Whereas residents of Rosedale Drive have expressed concerns regarding vehicle speeds and traffic safety along the roadway; Whereas Rosedale Drive serves as a residential street with significant pedestrian activity, including children, families, seniors, and other users accessing nearby neighbourhood amenities; Whereas the presence of a local park in close proximity to Rosedale Drive increases pedestrian traffic and creates a need for enhanced traffic safety measures; Whereas traffic calming measures have been successfully implemented in other residential neighbourhoods to reduce vehicle speeds and improve road safety; and, Whereas Council is committed to creating safe neighbourhood streets and responding to legitimate resident concerns regarding speeding and traffic safety. Now therefore be it resolved: That Town staff be directed to undertake a traffic review of Rosedale Drive between Harding Street and Dovedale Drive to assess vehicle speeds, traffic volumes, and pedestrian activity; That staff report back to Council with recommendations for the installation of speed humps and any additional traffic calming measures deemed appropriate along Rosedale Drive between Harding Street and Dovedale Drive; That the review include consultation with area residents regarding the proposed traffic calming measures and their preferred locations; and, That the results of the review and recommendations be presented to Council at the earliest opportunity for consideration and implementation.
