Whereas Commissioner Peter LeBel has made substantial contributions to the Town of Whitby through the growth and development of community services, recreational programs, and facilities during his 27 years of service to the Town; Whereas Commissioner LeBel was instrumental in developing the innovative public-private partnership that led to the expeditious development of the Whitby Soccer Domes; and, Whereas the Board of Directors of the Whitby Iroquois Soccer Club strongly supports recognizing Commissioner LeBel’s contributions to the Town of Whitby through the naming of the Rossland Soccer Fields in his honour. Now Therefore be it Resolved: That notwithstanding the Municipal Property and Facility Naming Policy, that the Rossland Soccer Fields be named ‘Peter LeBel Fields’ in honour of Commissioner LeBel’s contributions to the Town of Whitby.

Whereas Commissioner Peter LeBel has made substantial contributions to the Town of Whitby through the growth of community services and successful economic development during his 27 years of service to the Town; Whereas in collaboration with 360insights, Commissioner LeBel was instrumental in developing 1855 Whitby, Durham Region’s first and only technology accelerator; and, Page 3 of 5 Special Council Minutes April 24, 2019 - 5:00 PM Whereas the Board of Directors of 1855 Whitby strongly supports recognizing Commissioner LeBel’s contributions to the Town of Whitby through the naming of the main hall at 1855 Whitby in his honour. Now Therefore be it Resolved: That Council endorses the proposal by the Board of Directors of 1855 Whitby to name the main open space area at the facility ‘LeBel Hall’ in honour of Commissioner LeBel’s contributions to the Town of Whitby.
