Regular Council Meeting

1. That Council approve the following resolution, a requirement of the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario for continued Federal-Provincial funding of the approved Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Stimulus (ISF) funded projects and the Recreational Infrastructure Canada/Ontario (RInC) funded projects that will extend construction beyond March 31, 2011; MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF WHITBY HELD ON MONDAY, JANUARY 10, 2011 AT THE HOUR OF 6:45 P.M. IN COMMITTEE ROOM ONE OF THE WHITBY MUNICIPAL BUILDING WHEREAS the Federal and Provincial Governments are providing a one time extension of the deadline for funding of projects under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund and the Recreational Infrastructure Canada/Ontario Program from March 31, 2011 to October 2011; AND WHEREAS all funding from the Government of Canada and Ontario will cease after October 31, 2011; AND WHEREAS the Town of Whitby has asked the Provincial Government for an extension to Federal and Provincial funding to October 31, 2011 for the following projects: Program Project Number Project Title Total Eligible Cost RInC R1881 Rehabilitation of Iroquois $3,175,000 Park Sports Centre RInC R1884 Redevelopment of Peel Park $1,610,000 ISF ISF 1807 Anne Ottenbrite Pool – $3,500,000 Renovations and Addition NOW THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED that the Town of Whitby attests it will continue to contribute its share of the required funding for the aforementioned projects; AND BE I
